Friendly rides at party pace
Grinding coffee over grinding gravel. Counting birds over counting carbs. Smiles over miles. Join the Trail Snail Cycle Club for an off-road social ride in the hills of Highland Perthshire.
Our culture
We are a group of people who like chat while we ride and take it easy on the uphills. If you like to get outside and not get left behind, join us on one of our upcoming rides!
Even if you’re a hundred-miles-or-bust kind of rider, you are welcome to come along for some rest and good company, just make sure you stick to our principles.
-
We are not gravel grinders, pavement pounders, or setting out to break any PR’s (unless that record comes with a side of chips). We are a group of friends who enjoy the feeling of spending time outside on two (or more) wheels. That means our rides are accessible and should not result in chafing, burning, or any other unusual sensations to your undercarriage.
-
Having spent a lot of time in the woods, I (Nick) am aware that not everyone is getting outside for the same reasons. Some are in it for the ‘gram, some need to set the bar, and others (like me) just want to get out with friends.
Trail Snail Cycle Club is all about people and place. Bring a friend, a camera, some binoculars, something delicious to share, and don’t be afraid to hold everyone up so you can identify that cool moth—we won’t mind.

Many of my memories in the outdoors are of being left behind, and I know I am not alone in this. My own experiences combined with my training as a Wilderness EMT have taught me the most important lesson of all: No one gets left behind.
On our rides we stick together as a pack and encourage everyone to speak up if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable. We want to respect nature, promote safe riding habits, and create healthy memories together. There’s only ever time for a good time.
Our rides
All of our rides are planned in advance. You can see the exact route, mileage, elevation graph, and estimated time (on the bike) so that you can make an informed decision about whether you’ll enjoy the ride.

Rode a bicycle without training wheels at the age of two. Prefers gravel and single-track to roads because drivers suck.

Ella
Spend a lot of time distracted by birds. I don't like having to figure out either glasses or contact lenses in order to see where I'm going, sometimes prefer to walk up hills, and I did fall off my bicycle into a river once.

Gravelfeldy is my happy place!
-
Laura
New(ish) to gravel biking and very new to Aberfeldy—a whole world awaits!

Stuart
I eat snails for breakfast… but only when I’m in Portugal trying to look sophisticated… and not really for breakfast.

Freddie
I have been a keen road biker (doing all the sportives, etc.) but not for a few years. Also keen on MTB and gravel, so pretty much up for anything. I have a nearly 2 year old—Fionn—who might be keen to come along on shorter rides on his top tube seat. We'll see...

I like road riding and gravel/cross country. Downhill mountain biking tends to make me cry! I love cycling for the peace and freedom.
-
Brett
Equal-opportunity rider. If it involves a bike, the outdoors, and good people: I’m in!
-
Edis
It’s all about fun together in the great outdoors.

Peddles and poetry are my means of escape. My favourite ride is a long uphill. Any long uphill. The longer, the better!
-
Imogen
I make a very good snail when cycling. A cake-eating snail.
-
Paul
The gravel and road cycling around here is toooo good to be rushed! And some regular group rides would really encourage me to get out more whatever the weather.
-
Doug
Have been a keen cyclist for over 30 years and enjoy the social side of meeting other like-minded people either on- or off-road.

Runs Braw Bikes: a boutique bike service business based in Murthly. Founded Perthshire Gravel and is a trustee of Highland Perthshire Cycling. Writes a lot of reviews on bikes and stuff. Has opinions. Likes trailside coffee. Thinks e-bikes are the all-inclusive future.

Fairly avid mountain biker turned gravel basher earlier in the year. Just wish I could be free on the days when we have good weather as I’ve been fairly out of luck this year. And if it is good weather and everyone is happy, I’ll happily pop a camera in a hip pack and bring it along : )

Used to do heaps of cross-country mountain biking in my twenties. My biking has slowed down a lot since having the kids. Now I am fourty-four and have a big belly, haha! So I want to plod about, have a laugh, and steadily get back into shape.

I'm turning fifty in January and hoping to do slightly less work and get outdoors a lot more. And hopefully meet similar people embarking on their mid life crisis too. New to mountain biking but enjoying the freedom it's giving me. Love a pint too.

Just getting back into cycling after a couple of years out the swing of it. So treated myself to a wee e-bike to get me going up hills again!
-
Alison M
I love the outside in good weather.
-
Chris
Recently released from full-time work, now looking to move from part-time to no-time working, leaving me more time to walk, bike, be outdoors.
-
Nicola
Nicola here from Cow and Parrot Coffee Store. You know I love being outdoors and with my dogs, but I also have three bikes—not always working I might add! I’m the coffee go-to-girl and am super keen to play on my bike.
-
Peter
I enjoy a cycle that is sociable and is also about exploring an area, quite happy to take it easy and enjoy being out and about.
-
Zoe S
I struggle to keep up on rides. I don't keep well, so my cycling is random. But I love exploring if somebody else knows the way. I'll never be at the front. I love taking pictures of landscapes. And I drink coffee. Lots of coffee.

I love to explore new trails and ride with other people. I’m much happier off road and away from traffic. I’m not interested in speed. I like to take in the countryside and wildlife if I’m lucky enough to see any. 😁

Robert
Not having cycled since I was 16 and now in my early 60's, I have only recently discovered my love for gravel and mountain biking. Not ashamed admitting to being an e-MTB'er. It has allowed me to access many parts of our beautiful country quicker and further than I could manage on foot.
-
Karen
Largely been a road cyclist but getting more into some off road gravel routes but no technical ability and a woose on downhills!
-
Kati
Hi I’m Kati, working in mountain woodland restoration. Committed urban and rural road cyclists, want to get out more on the wilder paths, gravel and hills and meet others while out there!
-
Dave
Never been fast on a bike and never finish a ride without stopping somewhere for coffee.
-
Brad
I'm a graveler. Like adventurising. Not afraid to get wet’n’mucky.

Love a good chat on the bike followed by good chat over coffee and cake. The occasional refreshing dip in a loch or burn should never be ruled out! Trusty the roadie and crusty the MTB are in my stable of bikes.
-
Diane
I would like to explore off road in supportive company. I’m slow but I’ll give it a go. It’s all about the outdoors for me.
-
Frances
Back in perthshire after many years. Looking to enjoy the scenery and meet people on our bikes.
-
Stephanie
New to the area and new to cycling! Moved from the city and used to city biking on a casual basis. Looking for good chat and like-minded folks.

Running my own wee business from Highland Perthshire. Motivated by sunshine and food. I'm most at peace when out riding in lovely rural places. Love heading off road and out into the hills.
